Our 3-day desert trip from Errachidia to Marrakech starts with pickup at either Moulay Ali Cherif Airport or your Errachidia hotel.
First, we will journey through the Ziz Valley, a vast area boasting one of Morocco’s largest palm groves. Next, we will pass by Erfoud, known for its date festival, typically held in late October.
In the afternoon, we will continue towards the Erg Chebbi dunes, where an experienced camel guide will be waiting with camels to take you on an hour-long journey across the Merzouga dunes to your desert camp, where you will spend the night.
On the second day of our 3-day Errachidia to Marrakech desert vacation, we advise you to wake up for the sunrise. Then, we will leave Merzouga after taking you on camels back to the center. We will head to Tinghir through the old Fezna irrigation system, and we will stop at one of the Berber clothing cooperatives to try on local clothes for free.
After lunch, we will head to the Grand Canyon of the Todgha Gorges near Tinghir. There, you will have free time to walk and take pictures along the valley. Eventually, we will take the road to Dades where you will spend the 2nd night.
After having a tasty breakfast at the Dades Hotel. We will drive to Marrakech and stop at several interesting places along the way.
First, we will drive through Kalaat Mgouna, which is known for the Rose Valley. In this valley, you can find many cooperatives that make beauty items out of roses.
Next, we will drive through Skoura, a small city with long palm groves. This city is famous for the Kasbah of Amridil, an old fortress (17th century) that’s still partly lived in! It’s like a museum where you can walk through the old houses and see how people used to live. You will have some free time to visit this site before we go to Ouarzazate.
Ouarzazate, which is also known as the “Hollywood of Morocco,” has been the setting for many movies thanks to its beautiful deserts and old kasbahs. You will have about an hour there to visit one of the Atlas studios where they used to make movies.
The Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou is the next place we will visit after lunch. It’s an old mud fort! It’s well-known for movies and has a fun history walk.
In the afternoon, we will take the Tizi N’tichka pass, stopping along the way to admire the views of the Atlas mountains. Our 3-day Errachidia desert tour ends when we drop you off at your hotel in Marrakech.
