Here are the tour highlights:
You will start the 4-day desert tour from Essaouira at 8 am from your hotel. Along the way to Ouarzazate, you will have several chances to stop and enjoy the views as we take you through the Atlas Mountains. Our driver will make a stop at an altitude of 2260 m, where you can take a break, pictures, and admire the views.
The next place we will visit is Ait Benhaddou, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Now, you have enough time to walk around this old Kasbah and see it all. This famous site has been featured in many movies and TV shows, such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
Finally, Ouarzazate is our last stop for the day. We are going to take you to one of the Atlas studios where some movies were made before we take you to the hotel.
We continue our trip along the Thousand Kasbahs path, which takes us through the oasis of Skoura and the Rose Valley. You will get to Todra Gorges after about two hours of driving. These canyons are famous for their tall, orange cliffs and being a great spot for climbing and hiking.
We will arrive in the afternoon at the beautiful town of Merzouga, which is in the area of golden dunes. From there, you will ride camels across the dunes to the desert camp, which is your last stop for the day. At the camp, you will have dinner before you join the Berbers entertaining you with drums.
You will see the most interesting places near Merzouga on the third day of our tour. You will start your trip by going to the Morocco National 4×4 Auto Museum to see some cool 4x4s and racing cars, some of which have been used by Moroccan royalty. After that, we will take you to Khamlia to enjoy the Gnawa music.
Furthermore, you will drive off-road to the mine of Mifis after seeing the small town of Khamlia. Mifis is an abandoned town with Galena mines where mascara used to be made. After that, you will go to one of the Berber families who live in tents in about 10 minutes. Here, you will meet them, see how they live in these tents, and have a cup of tea with them.
In the afternoon, you will go to one of the small oases to see foggara, a traditional way of moving water around. These underground canals connect to water sources deep in the desert, which brings life to an otherwise dry area.
Finally, we will take you to the Riad to relax and spend the night there.
On this day, we will take the road to Fes. Our first stop along the way will be in the city of Rissani, which has a busy market on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Next, we will go through Erfoud and enjoy the stunning views of Ziz Valley.
From Errachidia, our trip continues along the edge of the Cedar Forest of Azrou. We can take some nice pictures of the Barbary monkeys there. Additionally, we will stop in the city of Ifrane so you can take a stroll and see the Atlas Lion statue.
