Here are the tour highlights:
Our 5-day desert tour from Tangier to Marrakech starts at your hotel at 8 a.m. We will travel to Chefchaouen through the Rif Mountains. While in this lovely blue city, you can do more than admire the walls and streets. You can walk around Place Outa El Hamam, it is the main square of the city. Here, you can see street performers, find good restaurants, and enjoy the vibes.
After that, you can visit Bouzafer Mosque, known as the Spanish mosque. It is a beautiful site with a panoramic view of the city.
We will drive to Fes today, and along the way, we will see beautiful views of the Rif Mountains. Arriving in Fes, you will have a local guided trip. In this cultural city, you will see a lot of different things. To begin, you will walk around the old part (the medina) for most of the day.
You can see the University of Al Quaraouyine, which is the oldest university in the world, and the Royal Palace Gate, which is known for its 7 golden gates. We will have lunch at a traditional Moroccan restaurant in the Medina. Then we will go to the Jewish quarter and the famous Chouara tanneries. Finally, we will take you to spend the night in a traditional riad.
After breakfast, we will pick you up from the riad in Fes around 8:30 am. We will then begin our trip to the desert. Our first stop will be Ifrane, which is sometimes called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” We will take a short walk there to visit the statue of the Atlas lion. Next, you will travel to Azrou and go to the cedar forest to see the Barbary Apes. Feel free to feed them, as they are friendly and used to people.
We will keep going to the Merzouga Desert after lunch. You will stop for a short time at the Atlas Mountains, the dam off of Errachidia, and the Ziz Valley. When you get to Merzouga, you will ride a camel across the Erg Chebbi dunes to get to the Berber camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars while listening to the Berber drums.
We will have breakfast at the camp and then ride a camel back to Merzouga town. You can take the car instead! Our 5-day Tangier desert tour will then continue to Dades Gorges. We will stop at towns like Rissani, Tinjdad, and Tinghir to take in the view of the lovely, palm-filled valleys.
Then we will go to Todra Gorge, which is in the High Atlas Mountains and a famous place for rock climbers. There will be time for you to walk through the canyons. At the end of the tour, we will go to Dades, where you will spend the night.
Today is the last day of our 5-day desert tour from Tangier to Marrakech. We will be going via Kalaat M’gouna, the rose valley, and the Skoura palm grove. We will also go to Ouarzazate to see the film studios. Here, you can have a local guided trip inside to discover where they film movies and TV series in Morocco.
We will then drive to Ait Benhaddou to see its well-known and enormous kasbah, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. It was used to film popular films like Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and many others.
We will keep going on our trip and cross the High Atlas mountains by taking the highest road pass in Morocco, Tizi N’tichka. It is 2260 meters above sea level and offers stunning views of the valleys, mountains, and many Berber towns. Our tour ends when we drop you off at your hotel in Marrakech.
“The 5-day desert tour from Tangier to Marrakech was indescribable. Hamid made the trip unforgettable. We weren’t sure if we would like the fact that the desert is so far from Tangier, but every stop was an amazing experience with a different story of Morroco. We did so many things in one trip that I couldn’t ever imagine seeing so many things in Morocco. The desert and the blue city were just wows—the highlights of the trip. I highly recommend Morocco Vacations for anyone willing to travel to this beautiful country!”
“Youssef, who was our tour organizer, has explained everything in detail and supported us on every occasion, although we have boys 9 and 11 years old. We enjoyed Chefchaouen, the camel ride, and the ATV in the desert a lot. Hamid, our driver, was an easygoing and lovely person. Thank you for ensuring we have a great family time. We have learned a lot about Berber life and culture, which has made a big difference. We felt ourselves in our second home, and it was not like the other kind of commercial tours.”
