Our first main stop will be a place called Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. This is where we will find a beautiful old castle that was once home to one of the richest people in the history of Morocco, Thami El Glaoui. We will get to explore it and learn about the ancient building methods and history of the Berber people.
After this, we will get to have lunch at a traditional Berber restaurant. This is your chance to try some delicious local food. Each dish tells a story about the history and heritage of the people who live here.
Furthermore, we will head off to Ouarzazate. This city is often called the “Sahara Desert Gateway”. This place is also popular as a filming hub. First, we will drive to discover the charming Todra Gorges. People often say it’s like the Moroccan Grand Canyon. Here, you will see tall orange cliffs and canyons. Today, we recommend waking up early to watch the sunrise over the sandy dunes of the Merzouga desert. After watching the sun come up, you will have a delicious breakfast and freshen up with a warm shower. Then it is time to say goodbye to the desert.
First, we will head to Erfoud to learn about the different types of fossils found there. As we travel, we will see lots of amazing views of the Ziz Valley. It is cool to watch the desert turn into green oases as you get closer to Errachidia.
After lunch, our trip will take us through the Middle Atlas Mountains. It’s a big change from the desert! We will stop near Azrou, a Berber town, to stretch our legs. This place is in the largest cedar forest in Morocco, so it’s a good place to take deep breaths of clean mountain air. If you are lucky, you might even see some monkeys playing around.
The last part of the day is a drive to Ifrane, which people call the “Little Switzerland of Morocco.” It’s a beautiful place and is considered the cleanest city in Morocco. In the evening, we will reach Fes. There, we will go straight to your Riad, a traditional Moroccan house, to take a break and get ready for the next day.
