We will start the 2-day desert tour at 8 am from your hotel in Fes. The first stop will be Ifrane, also called the little Switzerland of Morocco. As you enjoy your coffee there and visit the Atlas Lion, you will have the chance to see the Barbary apes about 20 20-minute drive into the forest of cedar trees. We’ll then drive over the Atlas Mountains to Midelt, which is sometimes called the “capital apple of Morocco.” There, you can have lunch.
We keep going over the Tizi-n-Talghemt pass, and along the Ziz Valley, which has small traditional towns and an area full of date palm trees.
When you get to the Merzouga Desert in the afternoon, your camels and their experienced leaders will be ready to take you on a trip across the dunes. After an exciting hour-long camel ride through the beautiful sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, you’ll arrive at your Berber camp, where you’ll spend the night under the stars.
