Here are the tour highlights:
Your 3-day Morocco tour from Fes to Marrakech starts at 8 a.m. from your hotel/riad. First, we will stop in Ifrane, which is sometimes called the “Switzerland of Morocco. It is the cleanest city in Africa and one of the best ski resorts in Morocco. Here, you will have some free time to walk and stretch your legs.
As we continue our journey, we cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and stop in the cedar forests to visit the interesting Barbary macaques. A unique type of monkey that lives in this area. They are very friendly, so feel free to feed them and take some cute pictures. After lunch and as we get closer to Merzouga, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the charming Ziz Valley and its thousands of palm trees.
Once you arrive in Merzouga, the beauty of the golden sand will blow your mind. We’ll ride the camels through the dunes to get to the camp in the middle of the desert. You can check in your tent and climb one of the nearby dunes to watch the sunset.
After dinner, the Berber staff will play the drums and entertain you with some local music. You can then walk up the sand dunes to watch the stars.
The second day of our 3-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour will begin with a beautiful sunrise near the camp. People who work at camp will make sure you get up early for that if you are interested! After taking beautiful shots of the sunrise, you’ll have breakfast at the camp.
We will start by leaving the Sahara desert through Erfoud, also known as the “city of fossils.” Erfoud has a lot of mineral mines that are worth discovering. When you’re done exploring the area, you’ll go to the Fezna Irrigation System; they are wells that water the city’s farms. After that, you’ll go to Melaab, a famous Berber town, where you can try on their traditional Berber clothes.
Next, we will go through the valley of Tinghir on our way to the best canyons in Morocco. Your driver will stop by so you can see this beautiful place, do some hiking, and enjoy the gorges. You might see people climbing and having picnics along the river.
Last, you will drive straight to Boumalne Dades and stay the night in a Riad or hotel.
We will drive from Dades to Marrakech today. On the way, you will stop by Kalaat M’gouna, also known as the city of roses. Afterward, the trip goes on to Ouarzazate, often called the Hollywood of Africa. Here, you can make a stop to visit one of the Atlas Studios. It is where they make movies and TV series.
Next is the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, an old fortress or ksar that was on the trade road from the Sahara to Marrakesh. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and is seen as a great example of Moroccan mud Kasbahs. We will take a walk inside the fortress to discover the area.
Eventually, we will drive through the High Atlas Mountains. We can make a quick stop to admire the view at an altitude of 2260 meters. After that, we will take you directly to Marrakech. This marks the end of our 3-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour.
“It’s been a magical 3-day tour from Fes to Marrakech across the Merzouga desert and Dades!
We met several guys from all over the world, saw incredible places, and crossed a sandstorm in the Sahara desert on a camel. We also did sandboarding, quad rides, and much more. I saw places I had never seen before, and it was wonderful, but an especially big thanks go to our guide, Hamid, who has been amazing. I highly recommend this tour for anyone willing to visit the desert from Fes.”
“We had a great time! If you don’t want to plan your trip to Sahara yourself, this tour is a perfect option. All is planned out, with stops on the way, and accommodations. Our tour guide, Hassan, was fun, knowledgeable, respectful, and very professional. We only wish we stayed one more night in the Sahara… should have booked a 4-day tour from Fes to get the most out of this beautiful part of the country full of rich culture and hospitable people. In general, excellent job, Morocco Vacations! And a special thanks to our guide.”
