Today marks the first day of our 4-day desert tour from Ouarzazate to Fes. We will drive through the beautiful landscapes of the Valley of Roses and the Oases of Skoura. After that, we will head to the famous gorges of Todra next to Tinghir City. These gorges are a popular tourist destination for hikers, rock climbers, and photography lovers.
Merzouga Desert is the last stop on today’s journey. This place is home to the beautiful dunes of Erg Chebbi. Each year, millions of tourists get there to enjoy the stunning views and try different activities.
You will have the opportunity to try the camel rides and witness a lovely sunset on the way to the desert camp. The overnight stay promises an exciting and unique experience as you try a delicious dinner and enjoy Berber music drumming under the starry sky.
The 2nd day of the trip is full of exciting visits as we get to know more about the desert area. Get ready to explore the Oasis of Hassi Labied and learn about the irrigation system there.
We move on to the other part of the desert to visit a nomad family. These people are still living a very simple and hard life staying in traditional black tents. We will learn more about their lifestyle and how they survive in such tough conditions.
Afterward, we will head to the Mines of Mfis which were discovered by the French during their colonization of Morocco. This place is a point of interest for geology and history lovers.
We will end the day by taking you to the village of Khamlia. There, you will be able to enjoy a type of music called Gnoua by the locals. These people are originally from the central African countries and they settled in the village a long time ago.
Today, we say goodbye to the desert as we head north toward Boulaajoul. On our way, we will stop in Rissani to explore its traditional souk (market). On Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, people from the city and the surrounding areas gather there to buy essential goods. You will have some time to stroll around and discover the place.
Next, we will head to the city of Fossils, Erfoud. There, we will learn about the different types of fossils and the items they make out of them.
We continue our way and stop for a beautiful panoramic view of the Ziz Valley, the main source of dates for the whole province. After crossing the Majestic High Atlas Mountains, we will arrive at our destination and stay for the overnight.
Our journey takes us today to Fes, the last destination of our trip. Along the way, we will make two main stops. The first one will be at the famous cedar forest of Azrou which is home to the Barbary macaques. The second one will be in Ifrane, also known as the Switzerland of Morocco. There, you will have free time to admire the city’s beautiful houses and visit the Atlas Lion Statue. At the end of the day, we will arrive in Fes marking the end of our 4-day desert tour from Ouarzazate to Fes.
